چکیده

Introduction: The objective of this study was to assess the 11-year mortality risk methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) colonization in community-dwelling adults aged 40 85 years. Methods: analyzed National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001 2004 linked Death Index through December 31, 2015. Our cohort community years 6085 participants (representing 118 718 486 adults). Mortality from MRSA examined with an follow-up. Results: rates were 35.9% (95% CI, 25.4%- 46.4%) for MRSA-colonized 17.8% 16.4%- 19.2%) non-colonized participants. After adjusting potential confounders hazard ratio among those colonized 1.75 1.12-2.73). Discussion: middle-aged older is associated a significantly increased risk. Considering that effect not hospitalized patients, finding especially troubling.

Nasal Colonization Rate of Community and Hospital Acquired Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus in Hospitalized Children

Background & Aims: Prevalence of community and hospital acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection is increasing. The primary reservoir is the anterior nares; and nasal carriage is a risk factor for infection in a variety of populations. Infection due to hospital-acquired colonization is different from community acquired in clinical manifestations and antibiotics susc...

Nasopharyngeal colonization with methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus and mortality among patients in an intensive care unit.

Nasopharyngeal colonization with Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is common in critically ill patients, but its effect on patient prognosis is not fully elucidated. A retrospective cohort study was carried out enrolling 122 patients from an intensive care unit who were screened weekly for nasopharyngeal colonization with MRSA. The outcomes of interest were: general mortality a...

Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Colonization of the Groin and Risk for Clinical Infection among HIV-infected Adults

Data on the interaction between methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) colonization and clinical infection are limited. During 2007-2008, we enrolled HIV-infected adults in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, in a prospective cohort study. Nares and groin swab specimens were cultured for S. aureus at enrollment and after 6 and 12 months. MRSA colonization was detected in 13%-15% of HIV-infected ...

Prevalence of Community-Acquired Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Nasal Colonization Among Children.

BACKGROUND Invasive infections from community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) are increasingly being encountered in healthy children. Nasal colonization of MRSA is associated with increased risk for acquiring invasive disease. The objective of this study was to determine prevalence and risk factors for CA-MRSA nasal colonization among a healthy paediatric populati...

Community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in hospitalized adults and children without known risk factors.

Community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections are not commonly recognized in healthy patients without predisposing risk. We performed a retrospective study of patients hospitalized with community-acquired MRSA infections from 1992 to 1996 in Honolulu to determine if community-acquired MRSA infections occurred in patients without known risk. Patients hospitaliz...
